5 Tips To Help You Prepare For Holiday Shopping

November 23, 2017

It’s that time of year again, you know, the holidays. Even though it seems like we were just here a few months ago, somehow it’s almost December and Christmas is just around the corner. Although we like to say this time of year is all about spending time with family and friends, we all know those friends and family are expecting some gifts. Not just any gift, a great gift.

So if you’re anything like me and suck at buying people gifts, I’ve put together a list of 5 tips to help you prepare for holiday shopping!

Tip 1: Start a List

I’m the type of person who forgets someone’s name right after they say it to me, so when it comes to remembering what people want for the holidays, I need to write it down. I just use my notes page on my iPhone and create a list of everyone I want to buy a gift for. This helps me remember who I need to buy things for and also keep track of what I want to get them and what I’ve already purchased!

Tip 2: Start Early

It’s never too early to start planning out what gifts you’ll be getting people so once one holiday is over, I suggest you start planning for the next. If you reference your list from the year before and didn’t buy something on your list, you could save that for next year! Starting that list early is also super helpful. That way, if your family or friends happen to mention something they want or certain brands they like you can write it down so you won’t forget.

Tip 3: Don’t Wait, Buy Then

People shop all year long, so if you’re out shopping and spot something someone on your list may like, snag it! If you take any trips throughout the year, this is great to do while on vacation. A lot of people enjoy gifts from other cities or countries and you’ll be one gift closer to completing your holiday shopping! Just make sure to put these gifts in a safe place and somewhere you’ll remember them.

Tip 4: Little Gifts Make The Best Gifts

Sometimes you don’t need to go all out. Small gifts are just as special as large or expensive ones! Nail polish, hand lotion, face masks and body butter are great small gifts for the chicas in your life! For the males in your life some great small gifts are hats, cologne, or food gift cards.

Tip 5: If All Else Fails, Buy The Gift Sets

If you truly cannot think of anything to get someone, gift sets are your new best friends. A lot of stores put together gift sets of certain products or brands that make the perfect gift. If you have someone in your life that loves beauty products, Target, Ulta and Sephora have great beauty gift sets! If you’re looking for something not beauty related, there are fragrance, lotion and a ton of other gift sets out there!

Those are my 5 tips to help you prepare for the holidays! This time of year can be so crazy and it seems like there is never enough time to buy gifts, so hopefully these tips will help you feel less stressed.
