Last Minute Valentine’s Date Ideas

February 13, 2018

Paris may be the city of love, but in case you can’t get there in time for Valentine’s Day, there are a lot of great things you can do right here in Phoenix.. Whether you’re looking for a last-minute idea for your gals or your significant other, I put a list together of some things you can do that are fun, romantic and unique!

Outdoor Adventures

While some of you East coasters are stuck bundled up, here in Phoenix, we’re enjoying a high of 70’s all week. With this gloomy weather, it’s the perfect time to be outside so if you’re looking to do an activity for the V-Day, here is a few ideas:

Piestewa Peak Hike

If you haven’t hiked Piestewa Peak yet, this is a must! Make this date even better by packing a light picnic and getting to the peak before sunset. While you surely won’t be the only love birds gazing at the dusky valley views, this will be an evening to remember. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight so you can safely hike down the trail!

Kayak in Tempe Town Lake

If you plan on staying right here in Phoenix, Tempe Town Lake is a great spot for paddling and kayaking! Enjoying the February sun out on the water is a fantastic date choice for Valentine’s day. If you need to rent a kayak, NorthShore WaterSport Rentals offers both single and double kayaks, paddle boards, and pedal boats to rent.

Dinner Date Hotspots

What’s Valentine’s day without some good eats? Phoenix has a ton of food options, but here’s some food options that will make for a great Valentine’s dinner:

Fox Restaurant Concept

Legit, any FRC is a great spot for Valentines day, or any other day. Jordan and I will be headed to Olive & Ivy which is one of our favorites. A few other great ones are The Henry, North Italia or DoughBird. If you’re looking for more concepts, check out the FRC website. Whether you’re looking for a fancier dinner or more of a casual night out, FRC has some great options for both.

Downtown Gilbert

If you’re having a hard time choosing a dinner date spot, head over to Downtown Gilbert. Have a fancier dinner at Postino Wine Cafe or enjoy a casual dinner at Joyride Taco House. Jordan is obsessed with Joyride and claims their guacamole is the best he’s ever had. It’s pretty good, I will say.  There are a ton of great  restaurants and shops in the area, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. After dinner, if you’re not too full, you can walk over to Petersen’s Ice Cream & Cafe and get some delicious ice cream.

Valentine’s Date Night Activities

If dinner dates or outdoor activities aren’t your thing but you don’t want to stay in all night, you can’t go wrong with a fun date night out. Here are a few entertaining date night hotspots that you may not know about:

The Brush Bar

These brush bars are quite the hype and everyone is doing it! My team at Bloguettes even did it for a team event a few months ago! You can get your creative juices flowing as you paint and enjoy some cocktails with your friends or significant other. Located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, The Brush Bar is hosting a unique Valentine’s Day event. I am not a great painter but the instructors will guide you through each step so your art is sure to turn out great!

If you’re looking for another way to get artsy, Pinspiration has a craft studio that sets up “Pinterest-Inspired” DIY projects. I had no idea this even existed until doing some research for this post and I am definitely going to sign up for a class! With over 50 projects to choose from and a bar onsite, you can sip mimosas and follow along to a helpful iPad tutorial. There are a ton of different classes you can take so there is bound to be one you’d like!

Main Event

In the mood for some friendly competition? Main Event is the perfect place to have a little fun with your friends or significant other.  Zap your way through the foggy laser tag course, see who’s got the hottest hand with a basketball shootout, or bowl your heart out. They have locations in Avondale, Gilbert and Tempe!

Spread the Love

Flowers, chocolate, and fancy dinners are nice, but if you’re not super in to the ‘classic’ V-Day outings, hopefully you’ll try out one of these unique ideas! If you don’t find anything on this lis, there are countless things to do in Phoenix, so whether you just started seeing someone or you’ve been together for years, you can make this Valentine’s day a great one.
